The secret to a crisp, professional edible print is simple: send us the best possible image. Edible printing shows every detail — including blur — so a sharp file makes all the difference. Here’s how to send yours.
The quick rules
- Send a high-resolution PNG whenever you can (JPG is fine too).
- Aim for 300 DPI at print size, or a file over ~1 MB.
- Use the image straight from the original source — not a screenshot.
- Avoid photos that are blurry, dark, or heavily zoomed in.
What resolution do I actually need?
For a cookie, cupcake, or chocolate-covered Oreo topper (about 2 inches), send an image at least 1,000 pixels on the short side. For a full cake-top edible print, bigger is better — 2,000+ pixels. When in doubt, send the largest version you have and we’ll tell you if it will print cleanly. See our edible image size guide for exact print sizes.
Best file formats
PNG is our favorite — it keeps edges sharp and supports transparent backgrounds. JPG works well for photos. Please avoid sending a PDF or a photo of a screen.
Common problems (and easy fixes)
Screenshots look pixelated. A screenshot is only as sharp as your screen — save or download the original image instead.
Images saved from social media are compressed. Ask for the original file, or use the highest-quality version available.
A photo of a photo/screen has glare and blur. Send the digital file directly whenever possible.
No print-ready image? We’ll design it
Don’t have a clean file? Send us a reference photo (even a picture of a cake you like) and we’ll recreate the artwork for a small design fee, then print it on food-safe edible paper.
