Custom chocolate-covered Oreos with edible images are having a moment — they’ve been all over TikTok this year as the easy custom favor for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, and corporate logos. A printed image is the lowest-effort, highest-impact upgrade you can add to a dipped Oreo. Here’s how to nail them.
The exact size: 2 inches
A standard Oreo is about 1.75″ across, and once it’s dipped in chocolate the face grows slightly — so the sweet spot is a 2″ round edible image. That’s also the industry-standard layout (15 images per sheet), which keeps your cost per favor low. Putting an image on a bare (un-dipped) Oreo instead? Drop to about 1.5″.
Two ways to apply the image
Method 1 — Tacky-press (easiest):
1. Melt your chocolate or candy melts.
2. Dip the Oreo with a fork, tap off the excess, set it on parchment.
3. While the chocolate is still wet and glossy, gently press the precut 2″ image onto the top. Done.
Method 2 — Mold (cleanest, flattest finish):
1. Lay the precut image face-down in each cavity of a round candy/cookie mold.
2. Spoon a little melted chocolate over the image, set the Oreo on top, then fill with chocolate to cover.
3. Chill until set and pop them out — the image comes out perfectly flat and glossy.
Pro tips
- Use icing (frosting) sheets for the brightest photos and logos. (Why? See wafer paper vs. icing sheets.)
- Order them precut — trimming circles by hand is the slow part; precut images drop straight on.
- Work in small batches so the chocolate is still tacky when you place each image.
- Keep them cool and dry — moisture is the enemy of a crisp print (more in our troubleshooting guide).
